On the occasion of the Austria-wide reading day, we have prepared 6 fairy tale studios for the children on the theme of “Andersen fairy tales”, 3 of them in English, three in German. Children's and Young People's Book Day, also known as “Andersen Day”, is celebrated on April 2nd. The children formed pairs (across classes) and visited an English and German studio of their choice.
The following fairy tales were available to choose from: “The Emperor's New Clothes”, “The Swineherd”, “The Ugly Duckling”, “Thumbelina”, “The little mermaid” and “The princess and the pea”.
We received support from our reading sponsors. The children had a lot of fun when the stories were read to them and enjoyed and working creatively on the topics, and bookmarks were also made to match the fairy tales. At the end, we raffled off balloons and a small Pixi book (“The Ugly Duckling”) among the children.
